Pegi S. Block, J.D.
Ms. Block is a licensed attorney and co-founder of Nivola Healthcare Solutions, PLLC where she provides healthcare consulting and training services for the company. Prior to joining Nivola Healthcare Solutions, PLLC, Ms. Block represented healthcare providers for over 20 years in pharmaceutical and medical device lawsuits throughout the state of Texas and in various multi-district litigations across the country, medical malpractice cases, and in medical board proceedings. More recently, she focused her law practice on the areas of privacy and cyber law where she represented and counseled health care providers in regulatory compliance matters, data breaches, governmental investigations, and in actions brought by the Texas Attorney General. She assisted her clients comply with federal and state privacy laws by providing them with HIPAA and Texas privacy training and preparing various documents mandated by HIPAA and Texas law.
Ms. Block received her Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Houston Law Center in 1983 where she was Topics Editor of the Houston Journal of International Law. Prior to attending law school, Ms. Block received a degree in Psychology from the University of Houston in 1980 where she graduated Magna Cum Laude.
Ms. Block has given numerous privacy law presentations to physicians, medical organizations, medical societies, medical conventions, hospital systems and other businesses throughout the State of Texas. She co-authored an article on Texas House Bill 300 and Texas Privacy Law that was published in the September 2012 issue of the Texas Medical Group Management Association’s e-Newsletter.
Ms. Block is also a mediator and a member of the Health Care Compliance Association.
